Agios Dimitrios / Agios Nikolaos, Peloponnese, Greece

On the southern coast of the Peloponnese in Greece and about 60 minutes drive from the nearest airport in Kalamata (or 3,5 hours drive from Athens International Airport) are these beautiful and unspoilt little fishing villages. Perfect place for those who want to leave stressful everyday life behind and here are warm, lovely summers and mild winters. Below winter pictures from nearby Villa Helene beach Voulimeneas.

Agios Dimitrios is a small village with a small picturesque port. In antiquity it was known as "Pefnos" and belonged to King Tyndareus. Pausanias tells of a bronze statue on a rock in the sea, (Dioskuri) which not only represented the king's sons Castor and Pollux but also the place where Helen the Fair was born. Read more under the link here. About 500 meters from the village of Agios Dimitrios you will also find Katafigio, spectacular beach with horizontal stone slabs and rocks.

Agios Nikolaos has a lot of tavernas and cafes that are open all year round and all are located around the port. In the village you will also find: infirmary, pharmacy, ATM, two supermarkets, patisserie, butcher, bicycle rental and petrol station. Everything you need for the moment. The village's popular beach is called Pantazi and is a quiet beach with both stone and sand.
