Messinia County consists of several different municipalities with small authentic Greek communities, all west of Kalamata. The village of Falanthi is located about 6 km from the picturesque coastal village of Koroni. A charming village with beautiful houses painted in bright colors with characteristic blue or yellow windows, picturesque cobbled streets and a large number of churches.
At first glance, the visitor sees the Venetian castle and the city's harbor stretching at the foot of the settlement. The Koroni Castle, dating back to the 600th to 700th centuries AD, is an example of Venetian fortress architecture.
Some of the most beautiful beaches in Koroni are: the beach of Kolonides with fine sand surrounded by trees, the excellent beach of Peroulia with fine golden sand, the beach at the castle of Koroni with pebbles and small rocks, as well as the beaches of Zaga, Memi and Kalamaki. In Koroni you can practice many activities, such as windsurfing, swimming, sailing, fishing and more, and of course enjoy the good Greek food in a lot of taverns and cafes around the port.
